Beef recipes #1: Easy beef steak

What to buy: 1 beef steak, 2 cloves garlic paste, 1 inch finely cut ginger, 2 tsp black pepper, 1 Tbsp salt, 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 5 Tbsp beef stock, 2 tsp tomato ketchup, 1 tsp chilli sauce, and 1 tsp lemon juice.

How to cook it: Rub the steak with all the ingredients except the stock, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, and lemon juice. Marinate in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. Let the flavours sink and soak into the meat. When ready, grill the steak on a cast iron grill with some oil for about 10 minutes or until the steak is golden brown on both sides. Do not flip the steak frequently to get beautiful grill marks. After, take what is left of the marinade, pour it into a pan, and add to it the stock, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and lemon juice. Cook this in low heat for a few minutes and serve with the steak.

What to buy: 500 g minced beef, 1/2 onion, 50 ml breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 1 tsp salt, and 50 ml milk/

How to cook it: In a bowl, mix minced beef with breadcrumbs, salt, onion, and milk. Grate the onion and add to the bowl. Finish with the addition of the egg then combine thoroughly. Roll the meat into small balls then fry in a pan with a bit of butter on low heat.

What to buy: 1 to 2 lbs ground beef, 1 egg, onion soup mix or any preferred seasoning mix.

How to cook it: Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl until just combined. Form them into patties using your hands, making a gentle press on the center so that it is thinner and cooks evenly. Place the patties into a greased baking tray and cook for 20 to 25 minutes at 400 degrees flipping once. You can also cook this on a grill.

How to cook it: This is all about layering, almost effortless. Take an oven proof dish and begin by adding some chilli con carne in the bottom. On top of this, layer a tortilla and top with more chilli. Do this until you have used all the ingredients and make sure you finish with chilli on top. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in the oven at 180 for about 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with sour cream.

What to buy: 250 g lean minced beef, 1 diced onion, 2 carrots cut into big chunks, 1 can drained mixed beans, 2 Tbsp thyme, 400 g chopped tomatoes, 200 ml beef stock, handful of peas,  1 kg peeled and chopped sweet potatoes, oil, butter, and black pepper.

How to cook it: Prepare the sweet potatoes. Boil them in a pot until soft. Drain and mash with some butter and black pepper. Make the beef mix by sautéing the onion with the beef in pan. Add the carrots, thyme, chopped tomatoes, beans, and half of the beef stock. Cook for 15 minutes until it thickens up a bit then add the peas.
